We are delighted to share our brand NEW What’s On for July.

Carers Week
Carers Week was at the beginning of June and we were pleased to meet so many carers in local drop in sessions across the county. It was also an opportunity to raise awareness of caring and the work we need to do with partners within the system to strive towards making a lasting difference for carers. One of the ways we can do this is taking the collective voices of carers and coming together. Carers’ lived experiences can make a real difference in shaping and influencing the systems that support their role in communities and wider society.
Carers Week is an important platform to take the opportunity to raise awareness of caring, whilst also recognising the tremendous role they play in our communities and society, often in challenging circumstances.
Building carer-friendly communities depends on working together, listening to carers, understanding what they need, and acting on what they tell us. Carers consistently say they need a break and want to feel recognised and valued, yet many still feel invisible. We will continue to strive to provide carers with the support they need and deserve.
If you would like to get involved and share your views on matters relating to caring do get in touch with our Carer Voice team.Â

Learning Disability Week
We recently celebrated Learning Disability Week and focused on the new and developing LD Online Membership. Sharing views and getting involved helps ensure the right conversations happen at the right time. We know lived experience is essential to shaping systems and services that work better for everyone. That is why we want carers to be able to share their views in a way that suits them, and at a time that works for them.
Because caring responsibilities and other commitments can make it difficult to get involved, we want to make participation as easy and flexible as possible.
For carers of people with a learning disability, we have a strong platform in place to make sure your views are heard and represented in meetings with professionals and partners who are there to listen. With support from a dedicated Carer Voice Officer, our forums, meetings and boards work best when carers share their experiences, highlight recurring issues and help shape solution-focused discussions.
There are several ways to get involved. You can attend meetings and/or join our online membership. This growing community of carers for people with a learning disability receives regular email updates on the issues being raised and offers opportunities to share views. The more voices we hear, the stronger our collective message becomes.

As a carer, you have the knowledge and experience of what works well and what needs to be improved both in services for carers and those who you care for. We have a seat at the table in many meetings and boards to ensure that carers are part of the conversation when decisions are made. We welcome carers to get involved and attend meetings, where full support and training is provided.Â
Not able to commit to coming to regular meetings? No problem, there is plenty of opportunity to feed in your views to make sure they are heard and make a difference.Â

We are also interested in hearing how carers are impacted and if they are receiving support."
